Majestic Colonial Wedding | Kelsea + Stephen

Majestic Colonial Resort Dominican Republic

Kelsea and Stephen's tropical Punta Cana wedding at the Majestic Colonial

I'm starting to call the wonderfully Majestic Colonial Resort in Punta Cana my second home.  They do an extraordinary job with their weddings and the resort itself is action-packed with amazing photo opportunities - not the least of which is Bavaro Beach, simply spectacular!  Kelsea and Stephen's choice for their destination wedding was hard to beat.

Opting out of the Rock the Dress session I generally do when I travel south, Kelsea decided she'd rather do a Couples shoot the day before they said their I Dos.  I'll save those photos for another post.  I love getting my couples in front of the camera before the wedding as it allows them to get comfortable with the process.  But most of all, it allows us to get to know one another ahead of time so when I show up on their wedding day I'm now one of the guys and we can dive in and kick off the festivities!

Kelsea and Stephen's crew clearly had an athletic background and an effortless zest for the comical. From goofing off at the sports bar to introducing me to a new nickname for their bridal bouquets - we were in a constant state of bust-out comedy routines while we wandered around the Majestic.  Totally my idea of a great bridal party, able to let loose and soak up every ounce of the day.  For budding wedding photographers out there, this is key - keep things light and fun - your photos will naturally benefit but most importantly, your Bride and Groom's experience will be through the roof.

Tip for future Brides:

Be sun-cautious in the days leading up to your wedding day. It's natural to get carried away on the beach or by the pool however that powerful Caribbean sun is merciless and sun burns and heavy tan lines are easy to catch. Kelsea had a run in with the Mr. Sun leaving some burning - I managed to soften the impact in post however burns are what they are.

Thanks so much to Kelsea and Stephen for putting their wedding day in my hands and allowing me to be a part of of it all, it was a honour and a pleasure meeting you and your fun-lovin' posse!
