MC and Jack's Outdoor Wedding

Trillium Resort and Spa was the ideal backdrop for MC and Jack's rustic Muskoka wedding.  If you're looking for a warm, cozy weekend escape for you and your guests then Trillium should be high on your list of wedding venues to consider. This wedding was special for me as I had come to know MC and Jack through their son JP who was a player on teams I'd coached in Barrie over the past years.  Once they had their date and venue set, MC reached out to me and I jumped at the chance.

I had come to know and had a great deal of respect for Jack who is a long serving member of our Canadian military.  And as you can see from the video above, their wedding day was an endless stream of smiles, laughs, tears, laughs, high fives, laughs and laughs complete with guests from all over Canada and even the UK!

As my readers know, I spend significant time in the Caribbean for weddings however being a Northern Ontario lad, I'm always most excited when I have the opportunity to head back to those roots - and Muskoka is the closest thing to it in Southern Ontario.  Trillium Resort is the poster-child for the ideal rustic wedding setting for outdoor-loving couples wanting to venture out of the city for their I Dos.  It's an all-in-one destination wedding type option where all of your guests can stay (or at least most) right on site with you Friday through Sunday as the resort is all yours!

Bride walking down aisle

There are sleep-cabins on hills and in valleys surrounding the main lodge, with a Spa and all kinds of recreation activities

.Just imagine... you and your closest friends and family arrive Friday afternoon and get settled before dinner in the main lodge.  Then throw on your favourite hoodie, grab your cooler, marsh mellows and head down to the bonfire by the lake.  There you party the night away with everyone as your last night of the single life!  The next morning you awake to the sound of the breeze in the leaves and birds in the trees - no car horns or traffic white nose.

And is there a better way to calm the wedding day nerves than with your morning coffee looking out over the glassy-lake?Now it's your wedding day and every thing and every one is already right there with you. After your I Dos and you dance into the night, everyone staggers up the path to their cabins - no driving, no buses, no taxis for anyone.  Sunday morning arrives, and you wake to the amazing smell of the hangover breakfast buffet being served up in the lodge.  There you can say your goodbyes to everyone and begin your official first day as husband and wife!  I mean come on, is there a more amazing way to spend a wedding weekend?!

PRO TIP:  Bring hiking shoes, there are many trails and opportunities to explore. Bring bug spray, you're not in the Kansas anymore and the mosquitoes are hungry!

I can't say enough good things about my experience as a photographer at Trillium Resort.  The food was excellent (check out the butternut squash soup), the grounds are post-card-Muskoka and the staff was so friendly and helpful at every turn.  I'm already looking forward to being back again for next months wedding, stay tuned...

The walk down the aisle is talked about, dreamed about and the most anticipated moment of any wedding - and then the weight of a lifetime of dreaming washes over...
