Find your passion... 3 things I love about my job

It may have taken me a while to realize my passion, but it's here and I'm lovin' every moment.  I just finished up a recent wedding and the images are on their way to my clients... it has me feeling pretty damn good and very grateful!  There are so many reasons I love what I do... but some well-earned personal-time is calling so no time to write 'em all out.  But before I shut'r down for the night here's 3 things I love about my job...

1. The climb.

Like my golf game, photography is one of those pursuits where you continue to improve however you'll never really reach perfection.  There's always room for improvement, you can always be better and for me that's the exciting part!  It's a crazy rush when the back of my camera is smiling back at me after going yard on a new technique.

2. Travel.

I've always loved to travel but starting out I saw destination weddings as a distant dream. Once I found my footing with local weddings, I set my sights on finding a Bride to give me that first chance.  From that first opportunity, the destination wedding portion of my portfolio took off.  What's not to love about shooting a wedding bursting with colour and culture on a beach in the Caribbean?  My skin tone isn't always receptive to the idea but it's nothing gobs of SPF 30 can't help with.

3. It's not a job.

As the saying goes something like 'love what you do and you'll never work a day in your life'.  I glossed over that phrase a thousand times over the years, not until lately did I stop and realize what it was telling me.  Since childhood I was constantly getting these creative (what my friends term "crazy-wtf-Vaughn?") ideas that centred around taking what was there and giving it a nudge towards my version of awesome.  Now those crazy-wtf ideas are helping me start to see the world.Advice everyone needs to live by, find your passion and do it fearlessly.
