A Rustic Summer Wedding in Port Sydney

Brittney and Colby's Summer Wedding in Port Sydney

Brittney's Nanna kept a close eye from above and took matters into her own hands when Mother Nature and the Weatherman had rain in the forecast for the entire day.  Brittney was very close with her grandmother who had passed not too long ago and it had me choked up a few times as guests and family spoke so glowingly about her.  I was very close with my "Gram" growing up as well - she passed before I met my wife but I keep her close and carried a photo of her in my pocket throughout my own wedding day.

As Grandmothers tend to do, Nanna got her way allowing Mother Nature just 10 minutes of rain and that was it - she had Mother Nature take a seat and took over clearing the skies for her Brittney.

This wedding also marked another first for me - camo sunglasses, camo belts and even camo ties on the groomsmen.  Being the outdoorsy-types they are, it seemed the only logical choice once I got to know them a little.  The only accessory they had more of than the camo?  Beer.

Tip for future Trillium Couples:  If you're considering a summer or winter wedding at Trillium Resort, do yourself a favour and contact their team to plan a site visit.  Having been to all different types of weddings at home and down south - Trillium provides a one of a kind experience for not only you, but all of your guests.  It's like a mini destination wedding right here in Ontario.  With all the cabins reserved for you and your guests that weekend, you have all of your closest family and friends (and only them) with you for not just one day - but three.  Picture a few icy bevies in front of a Muskoka bonfire Friday night, wedding festivities Saturday, then an awesome breakfast with everyone the next day before everyone heads home.  That's Trillium.

Here's a HUGE shout out to my second shooter Kindsey, she just keeps getting better and better!!  #Awesomesauce  Let's hear from Bride and Groom and their thoughts on the day... along with a few tips for future Trillium Resort wedding couples.

A LITTLE BACKGROUND - HOW DID YOU MEET?

Colby and I met in grade 9 at Stayner Collegiate High School - we started dating in grade 10. I made the first move in our grade 10 science class when I "needed" a little help for a project. We have now been together for 9 years.

TIPS FOR FUTURE COUPLES ABOUT TRILLIUM RESORT:

Where to start? We had such an amazing weekend with all our family and friends. The cabins are so clean, the staff is so helpful, such amazing food, the view from every angle is stunning at Trillium Resort - we are so happy we picked such a beautiful place to have our wedding. Two tips we recommend for your wedding...

1.  Include your partner In every decision you make along the way - Colby and I planned our whole wedding together and having each other's advice every step of the way made for the most beautiful day ever. I couldn't imagine doing it on my own.

2.  Get to know your vendors - it made everything so comfortable on our day.  If you have the chance to do that, it's so worth it.  It made us feel like our vendors were just another guest at our wedding.  Vaughn and Kindsey were so much fun to work with and be able to just joke around with them made us feel so relaxed.

Hair:  Ashley and Judy came all the way from Transformations Hair Studio in Wasaga Beach. They did such an amazing job on all of us girls.

Makeup:  Skinsational Day Spa - Colette, Victoria and Ria are co-workers of mine and amazingly talented girls. We had our makeup done at 9:30am which lasted the whole day. We even got rained on and partied like crazy!Flowers:  Melissa, Colby's mom, started the flowers bright and early Friday morning worked all day into the night and back up Saturday morning to do our bouquets. Our flowers looked absolutely incredible.

Cake and Cupcakes:  CakeyBakey Boutique owned and operated by Michelle a very talented lady. Our cupcakes and cake looked beautiful and tasted amazing!!

Mini Pies: Cheeky Treats, The Cupcake Boutique - thank goodness for Nadia! She came to the rescue a couple weeks before the wedding when we had someone back out. I'm so happy she did our pies I don't think anyone could of made them any better!

DJ:  Greg from Keep them Dancing, I will recommend Greg to every bride and groom we know. We hired him for our buck n doe and knew he was the dj for us. He kept our wedding guests on the dance floor right until the end of the night, and Colby as well who I never see dance.Fireworks:  Pyroworld owner Dean Fritz. Wow! Where to start, this was one of the best parts of our day. I have never seen such an amazing show of fire works and to top it off over looking the lake at our own wedding! Colby and I were blown away with this amazing show.

MC:  My aunt Trina, she worked her butt off to organize and set up our wedding and on top of it be our mc. She kept everyone entertained and everything ran so smooth because of her.

Photography:  Vaughn and Kindsey - First word that comes to mind - WOW!!  You guys have done such an amazing job on catching every moment of our wedding. Vaughn you kept me laughing all day and kept me calm - besides those little prank fibs you told me :p.  You and your daughter Kindsey are such amazing people to be around, you both are such talented people. Our whole wedding party felt so relaxed and comfortable when working with you guys( I can't believe you got my brother to smile for a camera!).

I knew when we seen our beautiful engagement photos and now our wedding photos that there was no one else who could capture beautiful moments like you. Thank you so much Vaughn!!
