Barrie Engagement Photos in Fall
A cozy fall engagement photo session in Barrie, Ontario
My favourite season to shoot and hands down my favourite season - perfect temperatures, ridiculous colour and the hope of another Maple Leafs season. With many of my destination wedding couples living outside of Ontario and oftentimes the United States - it's rare that I'm able to get together with them before their weddings down south. This was exciting new ground to break with Natasha and Chris who drove all the way up from Hamilton for a few photos.
Another first with these two soon-to-be-weds... a new non-Punta Cana resort in the Dominican. This trip in April I'll be flying down with these guys to the Gran Bahia Principe el Portillo in Samana, Dominican Republic.
UPDATE FROM THE FUTURE: Check out Natasha and Chris' post from their destination wedding at Grand Bahia Samana.
As always, enough rambling from me - let's hear Natasha and Chris' story in their own words...
HOW DID THEY MEET:
Chris: We both worked at the airport but different areas. I was friends with one of her friends she worked with, so I asked her for Tasha's number because I was too shy to ask myself. We started texting and the rest is history.Natasha: My friend who I worked with kept telling me about this guy who wanted my number. I said no, because I didn't know who he was. She gave it to him anyways, and well obviously it was meant to be :)!
WHAT DO THEY REMEMBER ABOUT THE FIRST DATE:
Chris: We went mini putting, I remember her kicking my ass in it, and how nice she was to me! I remember thinking how cool and how super easy she was to talk to.Natasha: We went mini putting, and then hung out until early the next morning. I remember him asking me to go to a friends event 4 months from the current date, and thinking this guy isn't playing hard to get at all. lol
WHEN THEY KNEW:
Chris: I can't pick a specific time, or event... When you know you just know. But when she was diagnosed with cancer things just got more real and I realized I could never live my life without her.
Natasha: Can't think of a specific time, it's just one of those things when you realize you found someone who has the utmost respect for you and treats you how you deserve you don't let that go. Someone who would do anything for you, and be there for me through thick and thin. Life isn't easy, as we have got to know over the years, but it makes it worth while when you have someone who loves you as much as you love them.
THE PROPOSAL, HOW DID IT GO DOWN:
Chris: Easter Sunday. Wrote a letter/note beside the bed to find the "golden egg". With a trail of chocolate Easter eggs all over the house to the ring box.
Natasha: He actually got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! AND he even said my full name with middle name included. :)
Chris: Then she laughed cuz she thought it was funny!
ONE THING THEY LOVE ABOUT ONE ANOTHER:
Chris: How much she is there for me, and would do anything for me. And of course her infectious laugh.Natasha: How genuine he is and how much respect he has for me. It's hard to say one thing, as there are a million reasons why I want to marry him, and spend the rest of my life with him.
WHAT MADE THEM CHOOSE A DESTINATION WEDDING:
Chris: I always wanted to get married on the beach with a Caribbean feel, and wanted to make my wedding a vacation as well. Why party for one night, when we can party for 7?!
Natasha: I did not want a destination wedding, because I knew not everyone I loved would be able to attend. But as marriage is a team, we have to give and take. It was Chris' dream, so I wanted him to be happy and fulfill his dream; however everything else even down to the purple shirts is my decision LOL!
WHAT ARE THEY LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST ON THEIR WEDDING DAY
Sharing our day with our loved ones and good friends :) and of course with one of the most amazing photographers to capture it :)!!
