Belcroft Estates Wedding in Fall

Belcroft Estate Wedding in the Fall

The rustic Belcroft Estates plays host to Emily and Scott's beautiful fall wedding

I was back at one of my favourite places to shoot, Belcroft Estates just south of Barrie for Emily and Scott's I Dos this fall. I've had the opportunity to photograph Belcroft Estates in every season including Emily and Scott's winter engagement session. It never disappoints. However, the bar is raised in fall - being a tree farm at its roots, the Belcroft was glowing with colour this October.

I was looking forward to seeing and working with Emily and Scott again. I'd enjoyed getting to know them a little better leading up to the wedding including their engagement session. They had come a long way from that mountain top in Lake Placid where Scott proposed. Now here they were straightening a bow tie and stepping into a dress.

Here's how the rest of their day went down in their own words below...

WHAT DID THEY LOVE MOST ABOUT THEIR WEDDING

Emily: The first look. I was getting so nervous and worked up about the entire day. Walking down the lane way, having to stop while photos and the video were being taken, I couldn't keep my legs from shaking. I could see Scott at the end with his back turned to me and all I wanted to do was run up to him and hug him. Once I actually got to reach him and he turned around all my nerves went away and the rest of the day was smooth sailing as we celebrated with friends and family

.Scott: I enjoyed everything from start to finish, but for me the most memorable moment was watching Emily walk down the aisle. She looked beautiful and the rush of adrenaline and emotions was intense. The ceremony felt like it went by in a blink, but I know I'll never forget the look in Emily's eyes when she finally made it up to me and took my hand.

A COMMENT ABOUT THEIR NEW BRIDE/HUSBAND

Emily: No one else can make me feel as special as he can.

Scott: Smoking hot ;)

A TIP FOR FUTURE BRIDES FROM EMILY

Relax and enjoy the time leading up to the wedding. Let your groom help as much as he wants. The day will go by so quickly, so don't stress over the small stuff. Remember the reason the day is happening in the first place - you're marrying your best friend.

A TIP FOR FUTURE GROOMS FROM SCOTT

Don't be that typical groom that doesn't help with planning. Despite what you may think, there are plenty of tasks you can help with that will help lower your future spouse's stress level (and therefore your stress level, too!).

BEST PIECE OF ADVICE SOMEONE GAVE THEM WHEN PLANNING THEIR DAY?

Emily: The best piece of advice I got was from a co-worker. Take your husband and step away from everyone and everything else for a moment and take it all in. The day will be over before you know it and that moment will stick in your mind forever.

Scott: Don't try to please other people; make it about the two of you. Although, if someone had told us to use Vaughn as our photographer then that would have been the best advice. Luckily we crossed paths anyways.

WHAT MADE THEM CHOOSE BELCROFT ESTATES?

There's something about the atmosphere at Belcroft that jives well with our personalities. We love the country, and the outdoors in general, so we were instantly drawn to the venue. I think both of our eyes lit up the first time we visited. Every inch of the grounds is simply spectacular and, looking back, we can't imagine getting married anywhere else.

HONEYMOON PLANS?

We spent a week in Lake Placid, NY, which is where we got engaged the previous fall. It doesn't get any better than a week in the mountains with the love of your life.
